All Signs Point to Murder is the outstanding second book in author Connie di Marco’s Zodiac Mystery series. Astrologer Julia Bonatti, the likable and sympathetic amateur sleuth, returns this time to help her friend Geneva Leary and her family when the youngest sister is shot and killed the night of Geneva’s wedding.
Julia is the epitome of a “ride or die” friend, and the Leary family really puts her to the test. They ask, and she takes some significant risks on their behalf, and there were a couple of scenes that had me holding my breath because of the tense situations. I loved the fascinating tidbits of astrology included in the story and wished I knew and understood more about it. I also appreciate how kind Julia is and that is is always so responsible with her astrological interpretations for her clients. One surprising mention in the book was that the Catholic Church forbids members to practice astrology.
A good collection of additional supporting characters in the story appear as friends, family, suspects, and witnesses. I honestly had NO idea whom the murderer was going to be. But Julia’s investigation had me fully engaged from the start. I was very entertained throughout.
The San Francisco setting was terrific. I instantly wanted to visit. The author’s description of the different locations gave me a tantalizing glimpse of various neighborhoods and well-known tourist areas. I had a clear and vivid image of where the action was taking place. Those late-night scenes, especially around Moira’s apartment, had me on edge and nervous as a cat. I can’t wait to read the next in this fun and satisfying series.
I recommend ALL SIGNS POINT TO MURDER to cozy mystery readers interested in astrology or the "City by the Bay."
