About Cry Wolf
Perfect for fans of Paige Shelton, an Alaskan tour guide is bracing for winter when she realizes that the wolves aren’t the only predators on the prowl.
With boat tours off the coast of Alaska shut down for the winter, tour guide Stacie Calder is joining the dedicated team at the Juneau Wildlife World, a wild animal sanctuary. Along with Sasha, her husky companion, she’s prepared to spend the long season in the scenic park. But not everyone is so chipper about the newcomers—least of all, Stacie’s new manager, Oliver Brownling. He constantly gives Stacie a hard time, specifically because she brought Sasha along with her. That is, until his mauled body is found in a remote part of the sanctuary containing wolves.
When it becomes clear that a human was responsible for the brutal murder, all eyes are on Stacie. Encouraged by her friend, Officer Liam Amaruq of the Alaskan State Troopers, Stacie is resolved to find the murderer but knows that her investigation will be difficult with the long suspect list she’s made. Did the sanctuary director plot to get rid of Oliver? Or maybe it was one of Oliver's coworkers, upset over a missed promotion? Stacie wonders about some of the newer employees, especially since Oliver’s personality made it easy to make enemies.
With the weather worsening, Stacie and Sasha are forced to stay at the sanctuary with the wolves—and her colleagues. As the storm gets worse, it’s clear that this killer has a taste for blood and may strike again. Will Stacie be able to find the murderer, or will the hunter become the hunted?

Review
4 stars!
An intriguing wildlife-themed murder mystery with a naturalist amateur sleuth and her trusty Husky companion.
Cry Wolf is the second book in author Lark O. Jensen's nature-themed cozy mystery series, Alaska Untamed. With a plethora of animal advocates, a strong, independent female amateur sleuth, and her loyal canine companion on the trail of a murderer, the truth is bound to come to light.
The series' main characters are certified naturalist Stacie Calder and her companion Husky, Sasha, who are returning to work at Juneau Wildlife World over the Alaskan winter. (During the spring and summer, Stacie gives wildlife-viewing boat tours.) When she becomes suspect number one in the murder of the sanctuary's nasty new manager, Stacie is compelled to conduct her own investigation to clear her name. I really enjoyed Stacie's relationship with her dog a lot. She keeps Sasha by her side or, at minimum, in the forefront of her thoughts pretty much all the time. Sasha is well-trained and smart, and together they make a great team.
Stacie and Sasha are joined by several people they'd met during their previous winter working at the wildlife sanctuary and a couple of new faces, and despite a couple of exceptions, they seem quite a cohesive and compatible group. The volunteer base is surprisingly stable! Stacie's growing relationship with hunky Alaska State Trooper Liam Amaruq has a prominent place in the book's plot, too. What at first I took to be one of a long series of booty calls proved to be a relationship with much more substance, and this definitely made this aspect of the series more interesting.
My feelings toward the overly critical manager, Oliver Brownling, mirrored Stacie's exactly. She has her work cut out for her in searching for clues and answers; they don't come easy. She's blunt and aggressive in her approach, and her coworkers at the sanctuary are included in her investigation. Her investigation results in several red herrings, but the answer isn't clear until the final reveal.
I recommend CRY WOLF to cozy mystery readers, especially those who like nature-themed stories, dog companions, or Alaskan settings.
