Becoming a Warrior Priestess of the Tribe of Dana
“When a new priestess is inducted, a warrior is selected to worship the Goddess within her.” Laudine nodded to Tristan, who rose to his feet, all the while staring expectantly at Issylte, his intense eyes aflame. Issylte’s legs trembled under her gown. Laudine announced to Issylte, her golden eyes glowing in the firelight, “Tristan will complete the final step in your induction into our Tribe.”
Holding her gaze with his mesmerizing blue eyes, Tristan strode confidently up to Issylte. The warrior who would welcome her into the Tribe of Dana. Issylte’s mouth went dry, her legs quivering at his approach. Power emanated from him, a magnetic aura that beckoned with promise. And made her magic sing.

The continuing story of the delightful THE WILD ROSE AND THE SEA RAVEN Trilogy!
The Lady of the Mirrored Lake is the second book in author Jennifer Ivy Walker's wonderful fantasy trilogy, The Wild Rose and The Sea Raven, and continues with the epic tale of Issylte and Tristan, where the first volume left off. Although this could be read as a standalone novel, with perseverance in catching up, I highly recommend readers begin with the previous book in this delightful trilogy.
Issylte and Tristan, and many supporting characters, return, and the story begins with their flight from Britain to Bretagne to elude the Black Widow Queen and plot their future course of action to stop her evil plans. The underlying story to this point is based on fairytales collected from various European mythos, combined and reimagined into a new and fresh epic tale. I loved the world the author has created as the setting for the trilogy, but especially the incorporation of magical and mythical creatures (and there are plenty to enjoy!)
Issylte is a lovely character, kind and good, who has been through so much personal tragedy in her young life, losing so many people she's loved and who loved her. She grows from an innocent child to a worthy young woman, a deserving underdog in her fight against her wicked stepmother. I couldn't help but root for her, and her point of view has been my favorite all along.
Tristan has carried a load of grief and guilt on his young shoulders since childhood; however, his past spurred him to make the most of himself as an ultimate warrior to avenge his family's murders, which makes a more recent betrayal all the more heartbreaking and grievous. I liked that he, too, was gifted with magical abilities, not just Issylte.
As this is a direct continuation of the story from book one, the action and intrigue are in full swing from the first page. It is a story full of adventure, magic, and romance. Once again, I was surprised at how easily I was absorbed by the story, sitting down to read 'just a chapter or two' and realizing much later that many pages had been turned and a couple of hours had elapsed. I think the author's descriptions of people, places, and things create such vivid scenes that I just fell into the story without any effort. I'm looking forward to book three with much anticipation; I feel compelled to find out how this all resolves.
I recommend THE LADY OF THE MIRRORED LAKE to readers who enjoy the fantasy genre, fairytales, Arthurian legends, and stories set in ancient Ireland, England, and France.
