THE LAST FAIRY WITCH

By Jean M. Roberts

Historical Fantasy

Publication Date: March 31, 2026

SYNOPSIS

Hannah Heronstone appears to have everything—a devoted husband, a beloved child, and a thriving business built on ancient herbal knowledge. Yet beneath the calm surface of her life, something old and malevolent stirs. A disturbing encounter with a friend from her husband’s past awakens Hannah’s suspicion that a coven of dark witches is gathering near Wentworth Manor. When Hannah, Peter, and Johannah journey to Ireland, her fears take terrifying form as she comes face to face with an unspeakable monster. A fairy offers her aid—but in a land where truth is slippery and magic demands a price, can such a creature be trusted? And where, across legend and time, can she find the Last Fairy Witch?

Centuries earlier, Eithne is a young Irish slave whose gift for healing marks her as something more. Trained by a druid, her growing power cannot be hidden for long. Sent to the sacred stronghold of Rathcroghan to become a Bandrui, Eithne finds herself caught between two suitors—a gifted bard and a handsome prince—while a darker force watches from the shadows. A ruthless witch who will stop at nothing to destroy her.

Separated by centuries but bound by magic and fate, Hannah and Eithne must each risk everything to confront the darkness rising in their worlds. To save those they love, they must cross through time itself—or lose all they hold dear.

Cauldron of Dagda
The Witch’s Rebirth Part II

This Samhain, the veil thins, and a legend awakens.

Michaela Riley, the award-winning storyteller whose words have captivated readers, invites you on a journey back to a time when magic thrummed in the very soil and darkness lurked at the edges of the known world. Step into The Witch's Rebirth series, a saga that begins not with a whisper, but with a shattering revelation on the most sacred night of the year.

The year is 540 A.D. The air in Gaul is thick with an unspoken dread, a chilling premonition spreading like wildfire from the East. For nearly three decades, a name whispered with fear, a figure known only as The Witch, has remained a phantom, a recluse safeguarding truths too powerful to be spoken. Merona, the woman behind the myth, has lived a life of quiet vigilance, her existence a shield against a nameless terror.

But the shadows are lengthening. An ancient, lurking darkness, a force older than empires and more insidious than plague, has begun to stir. This is not a foe that wields steel; it is a corruption that feasts on despair, a creeping night threatening to extinguish the last embers of humanity. And Merona, the reclusive witch, is no longer hidden. She is drawn from her sanctuary, her slumbering power ignited by an imperative she cannot ignore.

Her mission is immense, her burden profound. Merona is the solitary guardian of the Cauldron of Dagda, an artifact of immense power, a beacon of hope in a world teetering on the precipice of eternal night. Humanity's fate rests not on armies, but on the whispered incantations and fierce determination of one woman.

Beside her, though the odds are stacked against them, stand those who have pledged their unwavering loyalty. Murdach, Morrigan, and Mairead. Their faces, etched with the weariness of countless battles against the encroaching darkness, mirror the grim resolve in Merona's own eyes. Her voice, though carrying the weight of prophecy and the echo of a fragile world, is not one of despair, but of a fierce, unwavering commitment.

The Witch's Rebirth series is more than a story; it is an immersion into a visceral world where pagan lore collides with cataclysmic threats. It is a testament to the power of resilience, the strength of chosen family, and the indomitable spirit of those who dare to stand against the tide of oblivion.

Prepare to be spellbound. Prepare to witness the impossible.

Prepare for The Witch's Rebirth series by Michaela Riley.

Spear of Lugh
The Witch’s Rebirth Part III

Prepare for the Rebirth. Prepare for War.

She was reborn on Samhain. And that was only the beginning.

From the award-winning imagination of Michaela Riley comes a sweeping saga where ancient myth bleeds into brutal history, and humanity's fate rests on the shoulders of one formidable woman. Welcome to The Witch's Rebirth series.

In the shadowed year of 544 AD, the ancient Gaul town of Septimania lies scarred, but not broken. A devastating plague had gripped its very soul, until the Witch, through powerful, arcane deeds, began to loosen its deadly hold. Now, as the sacred eve of Samhain approaches, the air hums with the promise of roaring bonfires, desperate festivity, and a fragile new dawn.

But beneath the surface of celebration, an unsettling truth stirs: an ancient darkness, long thought defeated, is awakening once more. This menacing, primeval force threatens to extinguish the fragile light of renewal, to plunge Septimania, and indeed all humanity, into an eternal night.

With the raven's call echoing through the labyrinth's core, the Witch emerges, reborn and wielding the legendary Cauldron of Dagda and the mighty Spear of Lugh. She is poised for one final, desperate battle. To preserve humanity, she must summon the enigmatic, divine strength of the Gods – the awe-inspiring might of the Tuatha De Danann. For in this coming conflict, so cataclysmic are the stakes, there will be no victor left standing unless the ancient powers heed her plea.

Will the Witch's rebirth be humanity's salvation, or its final, desperate gasp?

Book Tour & Giveaway: The Conall series by David H. Millar

Heroes and villains from myth, legend, and history converge in this saga set in the vast ancient forests, treacherous bogs, snow-capped mountains, and mysterious lochs of Scotland some four hundred years before the birth of Christ.

The Place of Blood – Rinn-Iru

Conall Book I

by David H. Millar

Genre: Historical Fantasy

Over four hundred years before the birth of Christ, the island of Ériu is a patchwork of feuding kingdoms, vast plains, and frozen bogs. Battle, intrigue, betrayals, and courage are part of life for the Celts who call Ériu home.

At the same time, from their underground halls, the mysterious demi-goddesses of the Aes Sídhe seduce brave warriors, turning men into kings and binding them with fearsome geis.

Conall Mac Gabhann is content with his apprenticeship with the local blacksmith. Content, that is, until he finds his family slaughtered in their home. Two men share responsibility for the massacre: a mad Irish king and a dissolute Roman. Conall will have his vengeance or die in the attempt.

Accompanied by his childhood love—the beautiful but dark-spirited—Mórrígan, and the veteran warrior Fearghal, Conall's quest takes him northward through unfriendly kingdoms to a confrontation beyond the ancient earthworks of the Black Pig's Dyke.

Along the way, Conall and Mórrígan will gather an army and come under the influence of the Aes Sídhe. If Conall desires, an apprentice blacksmith will become a king. Who knows what Mórrígan will become?

The Conall Series contains scenes of sex and violence and language appropriate to the period (400 B.C.) it is set in. It is not recommended for those under 14 without parental consent.

The Raven's Flight – Eitilt an Fhiagh Dhuibh

Conall Book II

Conall II: The Raven’s Flight continues to chronicle the story of Conall and Mórrígan and the epic journey of the warriors from Ã‰riu (Ireland).

Conall and his brooding queen, Mórrígan, lead over two thousand warriors with their followers across the narrow sea separating Ériu from Albu (Britain). Their quest: the capture of Cassius Fabius Scaeva, the dissolute Roman held responsible for the slaughter of their families.

The Ériu encounter human, natural, and supernatural foes and friends. At the mercy of the Aes Sídhe, a race of demi-goddesses who demand that he fulfil his geis, Conall is named the Hand of the Goddess and given the instrument that will crush the Na Daoine Tùrsach—a tribe of fanatical, blood-lusting priests.

They battle fierce northern tribes: the Forest People's one-eyed king, Drostan Ruadh, opposes their presence, as do the Na Mèadaidh, led by the sly Finnean Mac Sèitheach. Yet, not all are enemies. The Raven People offer their support, although it too comes at a price.

Heroes and villains from myth, legend, and history converge in this saga set in the vast ancient forests, frozen bogs, snow-capped mountains, and mysterious lochs of Scotland some four hundred years before the birth of Christ.

The Sisters – Na Deirfiúracha

Conall Book III

It is 406 B.C. The Gaels tramp battle through the vast forests of Northern Albu and cross the brooding moors and marshes to reach the grain fields of Southern Albu. The majestic stone brochs, crannags and dùin of the north give way to the great hillforts of the South.

The Sisters is the third book of the series. In this tale, the fearsome women surrounding Conall take centre stage.

A malevolent queen bent on conquering Northern Albu launches an invasion and kidnaps the twin daughters of Conall and Mórrígan. The king's and queen's blood oath promises no mercy until the young twins are returned.

A merciless assassin stalks the community, and Tadhg is given the unenviable task of tracking the killer down. His mission worsens when the signs point to one of the women close to Conall, and he becomes the target.

Which partners are loyal to their hand-fasting oaths, and who will betray them? Will honour be redeemed on the battlefield?

Amid the battles, betrayals and intrigue, Mòrag, a tall beauty and fearsome warrior, desires Conall at any cost. A clash with Conall’s queen, also known as The Dark Huntress, is inevitable.

A Brace of Eagles - Snaidhm Iolar

Conall Book IV

Butter-gold and cruelly hooked, the beak ripped a ragged gash across the newborn’s throat.”

Blacksmith’s son, Conall Mac Gabhann’s only desire was to follow in his father’s footsteps and enjoy a long life with his childhood love, Mórrígan. The slaughter of their parents dashed those dreams. Fuelled by vengeance, both embark on the dark path of retribution.

From the ancient forest, two great eagles take wing. With amber-gold eyes, Fate and the Goddess watch, ready to guide and meddle in human lives.

Conall, now Clann Ui Flaithimh’s ‘king over kings’, must complete his geis—at any cost. He takes another stride closer to Rome and a reckoning with Marcus Fabius Ambustus. Flat-bottomed biremes carry Conall’s army across the Muir nIocht to crash on the shingle beaches of Northwestern Gaul.
New enemies and uneasy alliances flourish. Assassins, treason, and betrayal thrive.

Above all, Conall values loyalty. Thus, treason within the tribe sours his belly. Mercy will have no part in his response.

The fourth novel in the Conall series, Conall IV: A Brace of Eagles, is a rousing epic of Celtic heroes and villains, bloody battles, political intrigue, honour, betrayal, tragedy and forbidden love.

Retribution - Díoltas

Conall Book V

Witch!” Tullus gasped.
“You are not that fortunate, Roman,” came the menacing reply.”

Blood has purchased a fragile peace for Conall and Mórrígan and the close circle of friends they call family. However, allies and enemies alike wonder if the king and queen have lost the thirst for vengeance on those who slaughtered their families. Alarmed, gods, kings, and despots conspire to poke the slumbering fire.

Brennus of the Senones smarts at his defeat at Conall's hands and covets his lands and wealth. Will a bruised ego and hubris overrule the Gaulish king's typical pragmatism?

The Gaiscedach want revenge for the defeat and execution of their queen. In the dead of night, like cockroaches, they scuttle over the walls of Lugudunon.

Marcus Fabius Ambustus tolerates no challenge to his plan to be the Dictator of Rome. But has arrogance blinded him to the enemy he has nurtured?

The gates of Rome and retribution draw closer. But Conall needs his enemies as much as his friends. Still, who are enemies and who are friends? It is a time of schisms and rebuilding, of loved ones endangered, and assassins and spies revealed.

Yet, there has always been one constant: only the foolish doubt that Conall and Mórrígan will show mercy to those who threaten their family.

Conall V: Retribution is the final novel in the Conall series.

The Conall Series contains scenes of sex, violence, and language appropriate to the period (400 B.C.) in which it is set. It is not recommended for those under 14 without parental consent.

READ AN EXCERPT:

The room was completely inebriated, as if everyone had finally acknowledged it and given up any attempt at appearing sober.  Musicians began having brew poured down their throats by helpful dancers so they wouldn’t have to take their hands off their instruments.  The music never stopped, abetted by two of the girls singing in guttural Alcinic that sounded more like a war chant than song, and Sange began to suspect the native music had begun that way.

“This is what you call fun?” she asked Arman, but she was smiling broadly, holding onto him, beginning to enjoy his strength that kept her upright despite everything.

“Best thing next to war,” he half-shouted over some wild noisemaking.

Suddenly, there was a resounding crash audible even above the other noise in the room, and a babble of voices, half alarmed and half amused.  Horrified, Sange looked at one corner of the dance area, where two men were locked together, wrestling among the remains of a roast pig that had slid off the table they had upended.

“Someone tried to cut in,” Arman explained, shouting directly into her ear.

“They what?”

“Wanted to dance with somebody’s partner, and he objected.”

Several more responsible younger officers were wading into the mess, collaring the drunken combatants, pulling them off each other while the lady in question, knocked flat, was gallantly helped to her feet, but not before displaying everything beneath her petticoats.

“Throw ‘em in the brig!” someone shouted, to the accompaniment of cheers and applause, while staff hurried in to clean up the pig and the gentlemen in question were frog-marched out.  Expecting some sense of order in the chaos, Sange looked over to where she had last seen Arman’s commanding officer and his lady.  They were merely standing fast, looking amused.

“What will they do to them?” she asked.

“Sober them up,” he replied.  “Probably give them double duty tomorrow.  It’s torture when you have a hangover, believe me.”

“That’s all?”

“Well, what more can they do to them?  They already sent them to Tipol.”

FROM THE AUTHOR:

Today we are asking the author - "Describe your book cover and how it came about."

That question was written for this book, so I’ve got to go with it.

Book I of the series, Light of the Gods, came along so easily I don’t think either the cover artist or I could believe it.  She found a cover model’s picture that I swear looked like a very young Thor, I described the scenery, she found it, and that was that.

Book II, Hand of the Gods?  No way.  We struggled.  No one can quite appreciate what goes into creating the perfect book cover unless they’ve tried.  So, the next time you see a cover you love, believe that a great deal went into it.

Cue the rescuer.  Model Vikkas Bhhardwajnot only helped us with pictures but even with creating a video for Hand of the Gods, which I hope you have seen or will look up.  The background—and I would seriously like to know where that arch exists—gave us quite a tussle in trying to formulate a banner, but it was worth it.

It’s on my author page and my blog.

You can also find it at www.vikkaszone.com.
