SYNOPSIS:

Cathy, Nancy, and Mildred are on their way to Long Island to plan a triple wedding. When they try to meet with Georgia Hampton, a wedding planner who leads whale-watching tours, they discover her body upon her boat.

Teaming up again, the trio investigate the crime. Suspects include Georgia’s sister who is a partner in their wedding planning business, an artist who is a naturalist and conducts whale-watching tours, several couples whose relationships ended after consulting with Georgia, and employees of the tour company.

Reuniting with her great aunt after many years, Cathy learns that another suspicious death has occurred at Captain Sharp’s Whale Watching Tours. Can they solve the mystery, or will their efforts sail out to sea?

Love is in the air, but so is murder!

The Case of the Whale Watching Wedding Planner is the fourth book in author Debbie De Louise’s fun cozy mystery series, the Buttercup Bend Mysteries, and fans should find this one is as light and fluffy as the previous books. This time around, although busy with wedding plans that remain up in the air for Cathy and her friends, Nancy and Mildred, they still manage to get caught up in another murder.

The main character, Cathy Carter, who, like her two friends, is engaged to be married soon. When Nancy makes an appointment for all three with a wedding planner on Long Island, Cathy and Mildred reluctantly agree to go along. Although a detective in her own right, Cathy is even more reluctant to get involved in the murder investigation when they discover the wedding planner dead of a gunshot wound to the head, wanting to leave matters to the police. However, while Cathy can’t help but be curious, it is Nancy who is determined to insert herself and her friends into the case to try and find the murderer first. Cathy keeps a level head, and Mildred is her usual helpful but reserved self. Nancy, on the other hand, is a veritable steamroller regarding their impending nuptials and the murder investigation.

The murder happens early in the book, and with the deceased wedding planner’s reputation for stealing her clients’ (and her own sister’s!) fiancées and then dropping them once the relationships are irreparably ruined, there are plenty of unhappy customers out there. The story hits the ground running and never lets up as the sleuths (and readers) work their way through suspects and arrive at the final resolution. The book is easy to read and a great choice for a cozy mystery fix.

I recommend THE CASE OF THE WHALE WATCHING WEDDING PLANNER and the entire series to cozy mystery readers.
